WeBuild Day 2020: A reunion

It feels right to encourage a mutual interest in expanding the tech playground and connect people with the same pursuits.

Last Saturday, December 12th, 2020, marked another milestone of WeBuild Community.

WeBuild Day 2020 acted as a reunion for developers after the Covid pandemic, which merely took out all of our chances to meet up in the whole year. The Dwarves, with the help from many brothers out there, set up a full day for tech topics workshop, with a strong focus on Mobile and Web.

We kicked off the work with the logo and website redesign. Every new year needs a fresh breath. Anh Tran - our in-house designer, came up with this beautiful UI web, along with some relevant designs such as T-shirts and social materials.

Next, the development. WeBuild Day website was pushed to production not so long after the design finalization. Smoothly, thanks to the huge support of our Web team. Meanwhile, the marketing work was driven along the way across all platforms, from slack groups to Facebook announcements. Kudos to the Community team for spending most of their time taking care of this.

But voluntary work doesn't stop there. Our engineers also took part as keynote speakers. We had two topics this time:

  • XPC Service in iOS by Phuc, our iOS Engineer

  • Go Routine Underlying brought by Bien, our Backend Engineer.

Still, we receive much help from other sponsors, not to mention the stunning venue supported by Block71 Saigon. Although post-Covid is a sensitive time to organize an activity in terms of gathering, we're glad to witness a positive response from more than 80 engineers.

Giving back to the community happens at Dwarves in various activities. Wrapping up WeBuild Day 2020, it feels right to encourage a mutual interest in expanding the tech playground and connect people with the same pursuits. Moving and growing with tech always leaves us with new ideas and excitement.

We want to thank all the partners and our in-house team, for joining a hand in making this happen successfully, once again.
